There is a new update in a case of two brothers from Mathis who can't take part in after-school activities because of their long hair braid.
We first told you about Cesar and Diego Gonzales last week .
When Cesar was a young boy he got very sick. His father made a promise to God not to cut a strand of Cesar's hair for the rest of his life if he got better.
Cesar made a full recovery and the father extended the hair tradition to Diego when he was born.
Mathis ISD considers the long braid a violation of dress code and won't let the boys participate in extra-curricular activities.
Thursday's hearing is to consider an injunction that would change that. The judge granted an ad junction for the younger brother Diego Gonzales.
And that should mean Diego can participate in after school activities.
Until the trial however, the older brother Cesar, can't participate in after school activities. The judge wants more information on the timeline of events when he Cesar was notified when he could not play football and when the family file their lawsuits.
Attorneys need to get information to the Judge and have set a Sep. 10, 2019 deadline to get that info to the judge.
The trial is set for March 2020.
