Informational meeting on 2019-2020 budget to be held for District 3 residents

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — If you want to know where the City plans to spend tax dollars, you have a chance to find out. You can even directly ask city leaders your burning questions.

The City of Corpus Christi is holding the second of five meetings to explain the annual proposed budget to local residents.

The first meeting was held Monday for District 1 residents. The City's goal is to help citizens better understand the Proposed FY 2019-2020 Budget. Staff will answer questions during that time.

This meeting will be led by District 3 City Council Member Roland Barrera and City Manager, Peter Zanoni. It will be held at the Ben F. McDonald Public Library located at 4044 Greenwood Drive on Wednesday, August 14 from 6 - 7 p.m.

A meeting will be held on Thursday for District 2 residents. District 4 and 5 meetings will be held next week.

In addition, the City Council will hold two Public Hearings on the Tax Rate and one Public Hearing on the proposed budget. The hearings are scheduled during the regular City Council meeting beginning at 11:30 a.m. in Council Chambers on the following dates:

1st Public Hearing on the Property Tax Rate – Tuesday, August 27

2nd Public Hearing on the Property Tax Rate – Tuesday, September 10

Public Hearing on the Proposed Budget – Tuesday, September 10
