The Texas Department of Transportation will be shutting down some lanes along Interstate 37 to fix the barriers.
TxDOT says the concrete median barriers on I-37 have been damaged by car crashes and need repairs. The road work will start at McKinzie Road up to I-37 at Nueces River just before the fork to US-77. That’s about a 5-mile stretch.
Those repairs will start Tuesday, April 2 and continue throughout the month of April. The work is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursdays. TxDOT will close the evacuation lane and the left lane going northbound and it will close the evacuation lane going southbound. They will start at McKinzie Road.
All other lanes on I-37 will remain open. Remember to slow down in the work zone. All work is weather permitting.
