CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Get ready for more construction.
A section of Everhart Road is getting $14 million worth of improvements beginning today.
The road work will span from Holly Road to SPID.
The construction will happen in five main phases.
Phase one starts today, south of Holly Road, extending down Everhart to Cain Drive.
The two northbound lanes and sidewalk will be temporarily closed.
And the southbound lanes will be coverted into two-way traffic.
"Unfortunately, the pipelines underneath the roadway surface are in as bad condition as the roadway surface itself,” said Jeff Edmonds, the city’s director of engineering services. “So this is going to be as much about getting those pipelines replaced as getting the surface replaced.”
The construction is expected to take at least a year and a half to complete.
