Babies born to mothers with COVID-19 should be temporarily separated in order to minimize risk.

That is according to the recommendations issued by the American Academy of Pediatrics.

The experts also say that the newborns should stay in an area that is separated from other unaffected babies.

The guidelines say that if a mother requests the infant to stay in the same room, then they should be at least six feet apart.

The mother should maintain that distance until she has gone 72 hours without a fever.

Also, the experts recommend the mom should pump their breast milk, rather than breastfeeding.
