CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — It's the eighth year of "Haunting on the Blue Ghost" aboard the USS Lexington.
"Let's be honest most people think that the ship is haunted," Steve Banta, executive director for the USS Lexington Museum said. "And there are unexplained things on this ship. There's no doubt about it. People feel things and so we embrace that."
The scare factor starts with the entrance - you go down the hatch two levels below deck.
"Now you're into the hatch," haunted house coordinator AB Arrisola warned. "If ya'll are claustrophobic, you might need to exit out."
This is the largest haunted house in Texas.
The haunted house takes up two floors and 80 compartments of the ship and sits two decks down.
"You'll have to go through 13 steel doors that will be slamming behind your back," Arrisola said. "If you survive that we will have 80 to100 actors aka monsters coming at you from all different directions."
Tomorrow is black out Friday, which means there won't be strobe lights, but you'll get a candle.
"There are people who will stand in line and get through all the way up to the entrance and chicken out," Banta said.
They said there are two emergency exits for people who cannot handle it and people on each level for security.
"We want to scare you," Banta said. "But we don't want to traumatize you, right?"
The "Haunting on the Blue Ghost" will be open on Fridays and Saturdays starting this weekend through the first weekend in November. It will also be opened on Halloween night.
Tickets are $20 at the door and $30 for VIP to skip the line. They recommend ages eight and up.
