The oldest fishing tournament on the Gulf Coast is underway.   The 83rd annual "deep sea roundup" is going on in Port Aransas.

Although Hurricane Harvey left its mark,  volunteers and the community made it possible to keep this event going.  Fishing began early this morning at Robert’s Point Park.

"It was pretty tough," said chairperson Frank Eicholz. "at first, we were not sure if we were going to have a tournament. Then we thought about a one day tournament but we had the Owens family step up and they will provide a dinner on Saturday night so we are back to our normal schedule and two two day tournament."

The event runs through Sunday.
