ROCKPORT –  Affordable housing continues to be problem for communities in the Coastal Bend.  Over ten months after Hurricane Harvey destroyed parts of the area, many communities struggle procuring the resources and money to get it all done.

Today, Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush visited Rockport and Refugio- two of the hardest-hit towns, and he brought help.

He awarded Rockport more than $7.5 MIL in state and federal grants to help rebuild affordable homes and apartments.

"When you have half the inventory of workforce housing completely off-line for the last year that absolutely impacts the ability for people to move back if they were here before the storm," said Bush.

Two additional projects are also in the work for Corpus Christi and Refugio.  In all Coastal Bend communities are getting close to $13 MIL to rebuild affordable apartments.
