Get ready for a serious case of road trip envy, thanks to James Van Der Beek. The former “Dawson’s Creek” star took his family — wife Kimberly and their five kids, Olivia, 9, Joshua, 7, Annabel Leah, 6, Emilia, 3 and Gwendolyn, 1 — on the road for some festive fun in an RV.
They were dressed for the occasion, and James took to Instagram to share a snap of himself filling the RV with gas in a Christmas-themed onesie.
Meanwhile, Kimberly shared a picture of the kids in matching pajamas on Instagram, writing, “Day one of our RV Christmas trip! Merry Christmas from some park in CA #ontheroad!” They look ready to camp!
On the second day of their camping trip, Kimberly posted a slideshow of pics from Casini Ranch Family Campground in Sonoma County, California. “Day two of our RV Christmas trip,” she wrote. “Last week I could barely get out of bed. Today, grounding on the river bedrock, watching the kids play, having @vanderjames family visit our campsite, getting a nap in the back of our RV With Gwen, fed the soul so hard. Got the bliss I asked for.”
Another picture on James’s account has a great message. “‘Dad, you want to go for an adventure?’ #JustSayYes,” he wrote in the caption alongside a snap of him with his son.
A cute picture shows the whole family having fun in the snow in Shasta-Trinity National Forests in Northern California.
“A bruised knee, a fat lip and a few near misses later, we’ve concluded that not just any old hill in a National Forest area is necessarily a good sledding hill,” wrote James. “Whereas Snowmen, on the other hand, you can make anywhere there’s snow. *(wet snow).”
The family’s RV adventure continued north. Kimberly asked for a hot springs recommendation in Oregon on Dec. 29. Will they find one they like? If they do, we suspect we’ll get some great photos out of the stop.
Kimberly also mentioned in a post that they’re ultimately heading for Washington to visit her family. What will this clan do for New Year’s? We’re looking forward to finding out!
