The combination of low level Gulf moisture and upper level high pressure is creating a South Texas summertime regime of too much heat and trapped humidity, and that environment won't change until the middle of the week.

The persistent pattern will bring afternoon air temperatures around 90 degrees, with heat indices around 95 to 105 both Monday and Tuesday.

Overnight temperatures will linger in the lower to middle 70s.

Early Wednesday, a weak cold front brings isolated showers, and a slightly less hot, less humid Thursday will follow.

Return moisture surges into the region on Friday ahead of a strong cold front that will bring scattered thunderstorms and cooler air on Saturday.

Expect the mercury to crawl just above 80 degrees both Saturday and Sunday, with overnight temperatures dipping into the lower 60s both weekend nights.
