Port A businesses on 1st Spring Break weekend: So far so good

Posted: Updated:

The first post-Harvey Spring Break weekend has come and gone.  Now Coastal Bend communities are hoping to get a better feel for how their tourist based recovery is going.

Businesses along the coast have been unsure of what sort of Spring Break economic impact they'd have after Harvey.
All they could do is prepare as if this was just going to be a regular spring break.

"I told my wife I said, we're gonna gear for a good Spring Break because I said if they come and we're not ready for them, that would be terrible," said Mark Winton owner of Winton's Island Candies.

A few Port  Aransas business owners we spoke with say they saw steady business during the first weekend of Spring Break.

"It feels normal again really, I think for everybody this is what we're used to, the people being here," said Briley Lerch, manager at Bron's Beach Carts.

It's still too early for reliable numbers on how Spring Break 2018 is going to turnout financially but Coastal businesses are excited to be open.
