Pet Rescue Segment - Ma and 5 puppies trapped

Posted: Updated:

The adorable pups are safe tonight and being cared for by a foster. They were rescued from under a parking lot late last week. Home Depot employees notified the rescue the dogs were there. They were living in a crevice under the back parking lot of Home Depot on Port Avenue. Karen Turner and her Guardian Gals Rescue group jumped into action to save them. The dogs were in danger especially after their location was put on social media.

"Putting the family at risk, the pups were going back and forth across the parking lot," said Turner.

A trap was set in the back parking lot and momma dog creeped in and it took a while before she was trapped. Now the five pups needed to be rescued. It was challenging and momma dog wasn't helping any.

"They were leary and mom was warning them = how was she doing that?......she was barking, she was barking, ya," said Turner,

One of the rescuers Jacki Jackson draped herself in a blanket to try and lure the pups with food. Eventually, the five adorable puppies were saved and rescuers were surprised at their condition.

"They were in good shape, good weight," said Turner.

That's because Home Depot employees were feeding them for weeks. Turner sees this same scenario replayed daily. Momma dog and pups born and living on the streets. Turner says it all goes back to bad pet owners who let the dogs roam.
