The Texas Maritime Museum in Rockport announced via Facebook that they are opening doors to visitors on Tuesday, March 13th.  The museum has been shut for restoration and repairs after Hurricane Harvey made its way through the city.

The announcement noted that the museum staff have been recovering exhibits and restoring ceilings and walls.

We have used the words #recover #restore and #reopen in many of our statements and posts for the last several months since Hurricane Harvey. We immediately went to work and recoved all of our exhibits and we have restored all of our ceilings and walls. We are extremely happy to say we are now reopening our museum. Please join us on Tuesday, March 13th at 10am as we finally open our doors. Can't wait to SEA you all then!!

Besides displaying maritime artifacts, the museum offers several educational sessions and programs for adults and children.  According the their website, the nonprofit facility does not receive any government funding and rely strictly on donations from patrons and the Texas Festival of Food and Wine held in May.

The nonprofit facility will be open on Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sundays 1-4 p.m.  Visit their website for more information at texasmaritimemuseum.org.

The museum is located at 1202 Navigation Circle, Rockport, TX 78382
