Pet Rescue Segment - Charlie's transformation

Posted: Updated:
CORPUS CHRISTI -

Charlie just over two months ago was diseased, mange ridden, and starved. He was rescued off the streets of Corpus Christi, his body and spirit were broken.

Charlie today looks like a new dog thanks to rescuer Staci Donnell and foster Ursula Harvey and others who sacrificed time and money to bring Charlie back to life.

"I've shed many tears over this dog." said Donnell.

Actual video of the rescue shows the five year old dog trapped in a cage and then brought to Ever heart Animal Hospital for treatment of worms and disease and starvation.

"And some point he had an owner that just let him run free and didn't  care and we're just going to let him die," said Donnell.

Animal advocates like Staci were with him every step of the way.

The vet said he had only days to live if he had not been picked up off the streets. The suffering he endured can never really be fully known.

This is the first time in 5 weeks Staci has seen Charlie and he is alive and well because of her efforts and those of others.
