Pit bulls shot and killed after attacking CCPD officers

Posted: Updated:

Two pit bulls were shot and killed this morning by a police officer responding to a call for a dog attack.  Just before 8:30 a.m. Monday, February 12, police received a call about two pit bulls attacking a child on the 1,000 block of Brownlee.

Officers arrived to discover the animals were actually attacking another dog in its backyard.  When officers tried to separate them, one of the pit bulls began attacking them.  The pit bull was shot.

The other dog was shot as well after charging the officers.  Both dogs died.

The dog that was attacked was seriously hurt and its owner rushed it to the veterinarian.

The owners of the pit bulls showed up at the scene and could face charges for not restraining their dogs.  Police say they had received complaints about the dogs over the past few days.
