Flour Bluff basketball girls win district plus, local highlights

Posted: Updated:

The Flour Bluff Lady Hornets had a convincing victory over the Lady Texans from Ray, making them your 2016-2017 district champions. Under the direction of head coach James McMinn, and his beloved assistant, David Dunlap the Hornets have once again proved that they are the girls basketball team to beat here locally. They are ranked 19th in the state for a reason, and will undoubtedly make another impressive run in the playoffs.

Over at Miller high school the King Lady Mustangs fell 5 points short from their season goal of making playoffs. Head coach, and former star college athlete, Monica Pena said her team has struggled the last few years and unfortunately they just could not get it done over the more experienced, Lady Cherokees.

On the boys side, the district championship is finally set, the Eagle boys from Vets will play the Ray Texans on Tuesday at the neutral site of King for the district championship.
