CCPD raid homeless camp in old church building

Posted: Updated:

Corpus Christi found several homeless people camping out inside an abandoned building in the 600 block of Furman Avenue.  The building once served as a church.

Police received a tip leading them to find what they called an elaborate living set up.  The dwellers set up a dining room, sleeping area and lounging areas.

Seven people were found inside but police believe more have been living there.  Two of them were arrested for outstanding warrants.

A contractor is expected to secure the building.
