CORPUS CHRISTI -

The Coastal Bend Bay & Estuaries Programs is receiving a gift today.  Sea Oats Group, Cinnamon Shores developer, announced today in a press conference that it was donating two tracts of land compromising of nearly 50 acres to the nonprofit organization.

“Sea Oats Group is proud to have made this donation,” said Sea Oats CEO Jeff Lamkin, “We are a part of this community and intend to do our part to help preserve and protect its pristine beauty for the benefit of our neighbors and future generations.”

The land supports valuable barrier island habitats, including wetlands, tidal flats, coastal prairies and dunes.  The southern section will be managed in its underdeveloped state while plans for restoration lay ahead for the northern area located near Zahn Road on Mustang Island.  Restoration includes removing hard infrastructure such as roadways, light poles and utilities, restoring elevations and seeding native vegetation.

"It's great to see that the people at Sea Oats Group understand the value of open space and native habitats on coastal barrier islands,” said Jake Herring, Director of Land Conservation for the Coastal Bend Bays & Estuaries Program, “We are happy they chose the CBBEP to be the stewards of these valuable properties."
