Arrest warrant issued for suspect in double shooting

Posted: Updated:
CORPUS CHRISTI -

Police have issued an arrest warrant for a suspect  in a double shooting at a southside apartment complex.

CCPD officers responded to a shots fired call around 2:30 a.m. Thursday morning at the Walnut Ridge apartments on Staples St.

While officers were in route, the call was updated to a report of a shooting victim lying on the ground.

As officers were pulling up to the scene, they saw a vehicle speed off out of the parking lot.

"Another group of officers followed the vehicle, thinking it may be a suspect. Upon stopping the car, they learned that within the car there were two individuals that had injuries consistent with gunshot wounds," said CCPD Capt. James Brady.

The victims were a 28-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man who were both taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to police.

Police say the shooting was a result of a dispute over some property, and that the victims and the suspect knew each other.
