A protest held by local democrats outside Congressman Blake Farenthold's office here Corpus Christi called for his resignation.
Protestors say they are "enraged" by the allegations of sexual misconduct against Farenthold and his "inappropriate use of taxpayer funds."
Local democrats wanted to present a bill for $84,000, the amount paid to settle the lawsuit against Farenthold.
"We feel that this type of action and obviously reaction by Farenthold with the $84,000 in taxpayer money warrants his resignation," said Nick Gilby, President of the Coastal Bend Young Democrats.
In a statement by Congressman Farenthold, he said the people involved in Wednesday's protest do not have their facts straight.
Farenthold added in his statement that a congressional ethics investigation cleared him of any wrongdoing.
Police were called out to clear the protestors from Farenthold's local office.
