Local engineering firm donates more than $27K to Harvey relief fund

Posted: Updated:
CORPUS CHRISTI -

A local engineering firm has gone above and beyond to help out victims of Hurricane Harvey.

Hanson Professional Services donated more than $27,000 to Mayor Joe McComb's Hurricane Harvey relief fund.

The company itself contributed $15,000 and their employees donated the rest of the money.

The company's Chief Executive Officer told Action 10 News he is a big believer in giving back to the community they work in.

"Since this devastation was right here in the Corpus Christi area, it's very important for us since we're a major engineering firm here in town, we want to give back.  It's just our culture and philosophy," said Sergio Pecori, Chairman/CEO of Hanson Professional Services.

John Michael, VP of Hanson Professional Services added, "South Texas has been very good to our firm here and has been very good to the Hanson organization. This is our way of giving something back."

As of last month, Mayor Joe McComb's fund has raised at least $825,000.  The mayor's fund has distributed $670,000 to various non-profit groups across the Coastal Bend.
