Refugio's Casey Henderson defies odds, walks after suffering paralyzing injury

Posted: Updated:
REFUGIO -

Casey Henderson is a wide receiver and defensive back for the Refugio  High School football team.

He was hurt in the second game of the season with a paralyzing injury to his c4 and c5 vertebrae and air lifted to a hospital in San Antonio.

Doctors said there was little chance he would ever walk again.

The town of Refugio held vigils, praying that Casey would heal and walk again.

Bake sales were held to help raise money to help Casey and his family deal with this tragic situation.

But Casey never gave up, he never quit fighting, and in about 2 months time following his injuries and surgeries, Casey Henderson got up and walked.
