Posted: Updated:

New details have been released in the case of a woman accused of shooting and killing a man in her home.

A police report in the Carla Welch case states she's accused of killing 45-year old Larry Simpson in her home on the 5900 block of Caribou Drive this weekend.

According to the report, Welch told police on Thanksgiving Day, Simpson pointed a gun to her head. So, she then shot Simpson several times, killing him. She said she had called several friends for help. One witness told police she asked Welch to call police.

Officers were called to the home on Saturday and found Simpson's body in the back room of Welch's home. Shortly after, they arrested Welch.

Police have released very few details in this case. They have only said the two had a personal relationship.

On Wednesday morning, a status hearing was held for Welch in the 347th District Court. She told the court her daughter hired an attorney for her.

Meanwhile, she remains in the Nueces County Jail on a $1 million bond. Her attorney said he plans to file a motion to have her bond reduced.
