Rockport woman making a difference, trying to do more

Posted: Updated:
CORPUS CHRISTI -

Many of you may know a particular woman from Rockport already.  Samantha McCrary opened up her yard on business 35 in Rockport to displaced Harvey victims just days after the storm.

"Still so many people in Rockport still can't afford to buy the basic necessities," said McCrary.

She solicited donations and everything came pouring in from food, to other items people need to survive.

"I knew people were going to need to be fed, people were gonna need food, they were gonna need water, they were gonna need some sort of shelter," said McCrary.

People have been living here for months and this is home until another living arrangements becomes available.

"We got people that fix that right or like it never happened," said McCrary.

Samantha worked to get three RV's donated for people but now she's on a mission to get more.

"Our goal right now is to get people out of tents, living in garages, living in portable buildings," said McCrary.

And she's doing it.  Take a look inside one of them.  It needs a little TLC but this will be a families home soon.  And McCrary is working with a local RC park as well.

Her days are long and her work is not over.  She is tireless.

"You have really done a great thing for the people here, thank you, we're trying to do more," said McCrary.

If you want to donate to Samantha's cause go to her Facebook page called, Rockport Relief Effort
