Posted: Updated:
CORPUS CHRISTI -

An accident near a local elementary school sent a young boy to the hospital early Monday morning.

It happened just after 8 a.m. near Mireles Elementary School as the boy was on his way to school.

Police say a parent who was leaving the school didn't see the boy who was in the crosswalk and hit him.

The boy possibly sustained a broken leg from the accident, according to police.

Officers cited the driver for failure to yield the right of way to a pedestrian.
