Adoption recruitment event: More than 3,900 children in Texas need homes

Posted: Updated:

"Why not me? Why can't I have a family?" It is a question that many of the 3,900 children and teens up for adoption in Texas ask themselves every day.

November is National Adoption Awareness Month, and thousand of Texas children who have been neglected or abused are waiting on a family to call their own. The need for families willing to provide safe and loving homes is increasing as more children enter the foster care system every day.

There are many adoption events in the month of November across the state of Texas that spotlight the need for adoption. The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) asks "Why not you? Why not adopt?"

Monday, the DFPS will host an event to educate those who are interested in adopting or fostering a child.

The "Adoption Recruitment" will be held at 4201 Greenwood from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. Monday, November 13.
