CORPUS CHRISTI -

Action 10 News has learned that the city's water director, Clarence Wittner, has announced his resignation.

Wittner was hired as the city's water director back in February of this year.

According to a post on his Linkedin page, he announced that Friday will be his last day as the city's water director.

In his post he states that he is taking a position as assistant water director over wastewater treatment for the city of Houston.

Wittner is originally from the Houston area and says he wants to return to care for his wife who was recently injured in an accident.

As to what the city will do next, no further details have been released.

Action 10 will continue to follow the city water department's actions and bring you updates on when the hiring process will begin to find a new water director.
