Posted: Updated:

Mayor Joe McComb received quite the surprise during Tuesday's city council meeting.

A generous man extended a helping hand by surprising Mayor McComb during the meeting with a check for $7,500 to go towards McComb's Hurricane Harvey relief fund.

The man who presented the check to Mayor McComb, Kevin Burke, works with Buckeye Texas Partners based out of Houston, but the company employs about 130 people here in Corpus Christi.

Burke says employees with company wanted to collect money for those who survived Hurricane Harvey. "It's a great opportunity. It's a great way for us to support the community that supports us day and in day out throughout the year. It's a great way for us to lend a helping hand," said Burke.

Mayor McComb says the donation now puts his Hurricane Harvey relief fund at nearly $750,000.
