Texas A&M University Corpus Christi Recreational Sports is hosting Paws for a Cause, a dog walking fundraiser that benefits First Friday - an effort to provide breast screening for women in South Texas.

The event will be held on Friday, Oct. 13, on the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi’s Hike and Bike Trail, with registration starting at 5 p.m. and the walk starting at 6 p.m.

The course begins and ends at the Hammerhead parking lot.

The purpose of Paws for a Cause is to raise awareness of breast cancer and local animal adoption opportunities, while raising funds for First Friday, a local organization that partners with Christus Spohn Hospital to underwrite free mammograms for South Texans in need.

A registration donation for the event is recommended at $5, though any size donation is welcome, and all proceeds benefit First Friday.

Here is a Waiver to bring to the event.

Registration is being held only on the day of the event with cash or check only.

The event also includes a silent auction and prizes.

Paws for a Cause is open to the community, and dogs must have updated tags, and be dog and people friendly.
