San Antonio shoemakers donate shoes, socks and shirts to Rockport residents

Posted: Updated:

A group of San Antonio shoemakers went above and beyond to make sure victims of Hurricane Harvey who were hit the hardest have some comfortable shoes to wear.

The group came down to Rockport Wednesday to donate an abundance of shoes to victims, along with shirts and socks.

To make sure these victims weren't just getting any pair of shoes available, they even measured folks feet who were in need of shoes.

People with the group all agree that the looks that they were able to bring to these victims faces made these shoemakers trip well worth it.

"The best part about this is people who've been effected by natural disasters and you hear these stories of their shoes floating away of they come and they're wearing someone else's shoes because they don't have a pair of shoes, and everybody needs a dry pair of shoes and a dry pair of socks and that's what we're able to do," said Jeff Hettrick.

In all, the group donated nearly 2,000 pairs of shoes and socks, and more than 500 t-shirts to Harvey victims in Rockport.
