Several qb's have been hit with the injury bug

Posted: Updated:
CORPUS CHRISTI -

Its becoming an epidemic. Quarterbacks going down.

"In 24 years I haven't seen that many injuries at qb ever," said Rays Coach Craig Charlton.

Ray's star quarterback, Brad Breckenridge has been out for 2 games both Texan loses., in fact they are down to their third string guy.

"We have 2 qbs go down just on our team so its definitely a weird year," said Charlton.

King High was another hit by the injury bug.

Elijah Flowers, King's star quarterback got injured against Miller, the Mustangs lost that game and one other that Flowers sat out.

How much does that effect the team?

'Well if you think about all sports the qb in football probably plays a more crucial role than any other team sport there is because they command the whole offense as far as checks everything so there's a lot put on em," said Charlton.

And the latest is Vets Memorials David Soto, he was injured last Thursday night against the Miller Bucs. And the timing couldn't have been worse, Vets is undefeated at 5 and 0. They play Flour Bluff this Thursday at Cabiness. The Hornets are also undefeated.

Flowers is healthy and playing. No official word if Breckenridge or Soto will be in action Thursday night.
