Lady Islanders volleyball team looks to keep their 43 game conference win streak alive

Posted: Updated:

The Lady Islanders have not lost a conference game since November 2014.

The team has the second longest conference win streak in the nation at 43 games,  the University of Dayton has the longest at 45.

"Consecutive wins streaks are about people that really put in the effort day in and day out not about being great one day and taking the night off the next the math is never in your favor when you have a long streak going so eventually it will happen hopefully not anytime soon," said Islander Head Volleyball coach Steve Greene.

The team that gave the ladies their last conference loss 3 years ago was the University of Central Arkansas.

Don't look now, but the Lady Islanders travel to Conway Arkansas to face the Sugar Bears, who are 14 and 2 overall  and pose a threat to beat the streak.

"It's really cool and its an honor to have that stat but really we are just focused on this season and what we did last year and the year before is awesome but we really are just focused on this season," said Sr. Madeleine Doud.

So, you might say that the Lady Islanders are taking this game just like any other.

"We just want to keep staying strong keep staying consistent and working hard in putting in our full effort so we can continue to keep getting these wins as we go through conference we want to get first in conference again and stay undefeated as long as possible," said Jr.  Maddie Woods.

So look for the gals to be poised and ready.

Its worked the last 43 conference games.
