Port Aransas curfew still in effect

Posted: Updated:

A curfew for the community of Port Aransas still remains in effect.

The city curfew is from midnight to 6 a.m. and the curfew for the beach is from sun down to sun up.

Police and city officials say the curfew is needed for the protection of Port Aransas residents.

The mayor of Port Aransas tells Action 10 News that scavengers have been seen scavenging through piles of debris.

The mayor says this can be dangerous for people to do because they can come in contact with sharp objects and even mold.

City officials say they are receiving around 20 calls a day from residents reporting scavengers.

Officials have not said when the city curfew will be lifted.
