Boy riding bike to school hit by SUV

Posted: Updated:
CORPUS CHRISTI -

A 12-year-old boy was fortunate to escape serious injury after he was hit by an SUV.

It happened Tuesday morning near Yorktown and Cimarron as the boy was riding his bike to school.

Police say the boy was riding his bike on the side walk when he was struck by a vehicle pulling out of a business.

Fortunately, the boy only ended up with some scratches and hurt his ankle, but he is expected to be okay.

Police say the boy was at fault because he was riding his bike on the sidewalk instead of the street.

Officers did not issue any citations to the boy or the driver.
