Dave Campbell's football magazine named Athletic Coordinator and head coach of Miller, Justen Evans the most inspirational coach of the week out of all the 5A teams in Texas. The Bucs football program was predicted to come second to last in the North Zone of District 30-5A.
Evans, told Action 10 Sports that people questioned his moves from a popular Alice program to struggling Miller high; but he has seen the potential in the history rich school for some time.
"The alumni have been great, they have achieved great things in the community and the world, I want them to know we are headed in the right direction," Evans said.
The Bucs have a bye in week 3, they will face Evans high school alma mater, Moody (also 2-0) for homecoming in week 4.
"Coach Cantu, does great things for the Trojans, I graduated from there so I know the battle of the M&M is serious because I played in it," Justen said.
