Cosmopolitan in downtown Corpus Christi remains vacant

Posted: Updated:
CORPUS CHRISTI -

A high rise apartment complex with high anticipations of revitalizing downtown Corpus Christi remains empty.

Construction on the Cosmopolitan on Lawrence and Chaparral began four years ago, and has been delayed several times.

The hotel was first expected to be completed and ready for leasing by June 2015.

Not too long ago, representatives for the Cosmopolitan said they would open on April 1, 2017.

According to an email that's been sent out to interested renters, move in dates are being promised for late August or early September.

"They were given a list of things they need to do for inspections. But it's very difficult right now when you're towards the end trying to get contractors in there," said Councilwoman Carolyn Vaughn.

Developers for the Cosmopolitan say they are now pre-leasing units.

Action 10 will continue to follow the Cosmopolitan's status and bring you more information when it becomes available.
