We're adding a little cajun flavor to your weekend.
Louisiana Pit Stop is located between Burlington Coat Factory and Walgreen's on McArdle Street. The owner, Pamela Elwood arrived in Corpus Christi after Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans.
Elwood says, her heart and her passion for cooking goes back to her home state. She was happy to follow in her mother's footsteps. "I learned how to cook over the telephone, I would call my mother up, and I would say, how do you do this, and I learned how to cook, I just have a niche for it, I enjoy it," said Elwood.
The menu is full of your traditional cajun/creole flavors. Some of her favorite items include boudin links, boudin balls, creole etouffee and the famous cajun bbq shrimp.
Elwood says, her unique black and gold burger is a mixture of ground beef and sausage. She says, she serves it with a handful of fries.
"That's what I am excited about, I want to bring New Orleans to Texas, Louisiana to Texas in other words," said Elwood.
The sizzle is hot inside Pamela's kitchen, if you want a party in your mouth, you've come to the right place. "It touches my heart that the people are satisfied, satisfied customers and they leave smiling," said Elwood.
Louisiana Pit Stop is open Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 11am to 8pm. The credit card machine is broken, right now she only accepts cash.
