Fire crews respond to suspicious fire at vacant fourplex

CORPUS CHRISTI -

A suspicious overnight fire just a few blocks from Incarnate Word Academy has sparked an investigation.

It happened Wednesday night just before 9 p.m. at an abandoned fourplex on the 600 block of Glazebrook.

When firefighters arrived at the scene, flames were coming out of the second floor.

Firefighters say the fact that the structure is vacant is what makes it suspicious.

"We did have power, all utilities were shut off before we got here, so we're pretty confident it wouldn't be electrical. And then beyond that, we don't, we shouldn't have personnel, any kind of occupants in it because it is abandoned because of the last fire as well," said CCFD Battalion Chief Frank Solansky.

It took less than 10 minutes for firefighters to put out the flames, and no one was hurt.
