Crime of the Week: The cold case of Mauricio Ortiz

Posted: Updated:
CORPUS CHRISTI -

Mauricio Alfonso Ortiz had been missing since October of 2006.

He left his job as a bartender in the 900 block of South Staples and hasn't been seen since.

"We have not forgotten about this case," said CCPD PIO Officer Gena Pena.

He wasn't reported missing until a month later when his landlord called his family saying he has not been paying his rent.

Mauricio's 1993 Buick was located in the parking lot located in the 900 block of Lipan on November 18, 2006.

Detectives say there was a sign of a struggle inside the car.

Ortiz is 5"5, weighs about 140 pounds, and has black hair and brown eyes.

He has a tattoo on his upper left arm that says "love mom" and has four false front teeth.

If you have any information about what happened to Ortiz, call Crime Stoppers at 888-TIPS or email them at 888tips.com.

If your tip leads to an arrest you could get $2500 in cash, and as always you will remain anonymous.
