Driver who hit man sitting on bench accused of being on drugs

Posted: Updated:
CORPUS CHRISTI -

Cops say a woman who plowed into a bus bench where two people were sitting may have been on drugs.

The incident happened Thursday afternoon on Ayers and 17th St.

Police say 36-year-old Crystal Saldana crashed into a bus bench, sending a 63-year-old man to the hospital.

Police believe Saldana was high on synthetic pot when she crashed into the bench.

The injured man was taken to the hospital after complaining of back pain, but police say his injuries are non-life threatening.

Saldana was arrested and charged with intoxication assault, and police say she also was driving with a suspended driver's license.

She is currently being held at the Nueces County Jail on a $50,000 bond.

Action 10 will continue to bring you updates on this story as we receive them.
