CORPUS CHRISTI -

Cops say an arrest warrant has been issued for an 11-year-old girl accused of lying about being abducted.

Back on June 23rd, police say the 11-year-old girl called 911 to say she had been kidnapped while she walking home from Sacky Park near the Trade Center with a group of friends.

Police say the girl claimed she had been followed by a black truck when a man got out and grabbed her, then put her in the truck and took off.

The two friends who were with the girl told officers they tried to fight the man but couldn't stop him from taking their friend.

Last Friday, police asked the District Attorney's Office to determine whether or not the girl could could be charged with filing a false report, and whether police could issue an arrest warrant.

The District Attorney's Office says there are now moving forward with charges against the girl.

Assistant DA Matthew Manning says that once the girl turns herself in or is apprehended, a detention hearing will be held to determine whether or not she should be released.

Meanwhile, prosecutors will review the case and a juvenile prosecutor will determine appropriate charges for the girl.
