A man is in jail accused of plotting to kill his ex-girlfriend and children.
Beeville Police arrested 34-year-old, Brian Campbell, Wednesday, during a traffic stop.
Investigators say, Campbell drove from Odessa to Beeville to commit murder. He allegedly was tired of paying for child support. Kristopher Steward was house sitting when Campbell showed up at the home of his ex-girlfriend and kids.
Steward claims, Campbell pushed his way into the home and pinned him on the ground. "The only thing I told him, he asked me where the family was, and I told him, they are not here, I am house sitting, I am here to watch the dogs, and that's all," said Steward.
According to Steward, Campbell took off and he was able to call 9-1-1. A short time later, Campbell was pulled over during a traffic stop. "During contact with the driver, the officer saw things in the vehicle that were highly suspicious, and when the driver was questioned about it, he said to the officer he had come to Beeville to commit murder," said Sgt. Greg Baron.
Investigators with the Beeville Police Department would not release any specific details about the plot but did say Campbell admitted to being inspired by the TV show, Dexter.
Campbell is being held at the Bee County Jail on four counts of attempted murder and burglary. His bond is set at one million dollars.
Authorities are in the process of getting a warrant to search Campbell's apartment in Odessa.
