CORPUS CHRISTI -

A teen mentor and founder of a non profit youth organization has been accused of producing child pornography.

Police say 37-year-old Kevin Ray McMillan has been charged in a federal criminal complaint for sexual exploitation of a child.

McMillan is a teen mentor with the Boys and Girls Club of Corpus Christi and is also the founder of Texas Youth Entrepreneurs.

According to authorities, McMillan was taken into custody Wednesday night as he was on his way to allegedly engage in sexual activity with a minor.

Thursday afternoon, a federal criminal complaint was filed against McMillan.

Officials say McMillan is expected to make his first appearance before a federal judge on Friday.

Authorities say in the charges filed against McMillan, he is accused of sexual text messages to a juvenile female.

According to the federal complaint, cell phone photos show McMillan allegedly engaging in sexual activity with the young girl.

If convicted, McMillan could face anywhere from 15-30 years in prison, along with a $250,000 fine.
