Border Patrol agents rescued 18 people from a tractor trailer at the Falfurrias checkpoint.

The immigrants were rescued from the locked refrigerated trailer on Highway 281 North, Wednesday morning. A Border Patrol K-9 alerted agents, who then referred the truck for a secondary inspection.

During inspection, agents discovered the immigrants hidden in produce. The temperature inside the trailer was set at 51 degrees.

Agents had to use bolt cutters to remove the lock, since the truck driver did not have a key. The driver was arrested.

The immigrants came from Mexico, Columbia, Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Kosovo. They were sent to an immigration facility to be processed.
