Story Time With The Chief

Posted: Updated:
CORPUS CHRISTI -

CCPD Police Chief Mike Markle went above and beyond for the kids of the Coastal Bend Thursday.

Chief Markle visited students at Dr. J.A. Garcia Elementary to read to them as part of National Library Week.

Coincidentally enough, Chief Markle read a book to students about the work that police officers do.

The chief says some of the students were shy at first, but it didn't take long before the kiddos warmed up to him.

"We're just people and you saw it for yourself. you see how they lighten up and they start talking, regular old chatter boxes after you're here for a little bit," says Markle.

After the chief read, kids had a number of questions like how drug dogs get trained, and whether the chief liked watching "Law And Order."
