PORTLAND -

Bond has been set for a man accused of killing his father and assaulting his mother.

It happened at a home on the 2200 block of Aspen in Portland on Tuesday morning.

The victim's son, 23-year-old Andres Mushel was arrested after police say he killed his father, assaulted his mother, and then set their home on fire.

According to police, Mushel and his father, 63-year-old Christopher Mushel were fighting outside of the home.

Police say once the fight escalated, the mother went to their neighbors to call for help.

The fight moved inside the home where police say Andres killed his father.

When officers arrived, they found Christopher Mushel dead inside the home with trauma to his head.

Police say they're waiting on the autopsy results to determine the cause of death.

Andres Mushel was arrested after police say he tried to escape by setting his parent's house on fire.

He's charged with murder, aggravated assault and arson.

He's currently being held at the San Patricio County Jail on a $3.5 million dollar bond.

The bond includes $2 million for the murder of his father, $500K for the assault of his mother, and $1 million for arson.
