NUECES COUNTY -

A guy with a late night craving for cash from a local restaurant gets caught on camera.

It's the Crime of the Week.

Surveillance video shows a man wearing a pink colored hoodie and a hospital style mask run inside the Whataburger located on the 5100 block Weber Road near South Padre Island Drive.

It happened around 1:30 in the morning on April 4, 2017.

The thief immediately demanded money and threatened to kill the employees.

Police say the suspect made it appear as if he had a weapon.

While the crook was demanding money, another person sprays him in the face with some sort of mace.

Officer Gena Pena with the Corpus Christi Police Department said, "We don't recommend that. If somebody comes in and demands money, if you can comply, comply. You don't want to put up a fight, you don't want to anger that person in any way.  If they did have a weapon they could act out in aggression and actually use that weapon towards you."

Thankfully no one was hurt.

But the guy did get away with an unknown amount of cash.

He was last seen running down Weber Road.

Investigators believe the man is between 18-26 years of age, about 150-170 pounds, and he stands between 5ft and 5'6".

If you have any information about this robbery call Crime Stoppers at 888-tips or email them at 888tips.com.

If your tip leads to an arrest you could get $2,500, no questions asked and you remain anonymous.
