Portland Police are investigating the death of a 63-year-old man.
The incident happened in the 2200 block of Aspen in Portland, Tuesday morning.
Investigators say, 23-year-old, Andrew Mushel was the victim's son and has been arrested.
It all started when police were called out to the home regarding a domestic dispute. "The mother, once the disturbance escalated between the son and dad, she fled the scene and went to the neighbor's house, and contacted neighbors and police were called at that point," said Portland Police Chief Mark Cory.
When they arrived, police found the victim, Christopher Mushel dead. The cause of death is unknown at this time; however, investigators say he was found with trauma to the head.
Before Mushel could be arrested, we are told he attempted to elude police by setting his parents home on fire. He also climbed onto the roof of the home before police took him into custody.
Mushel faces charges of murder, arson and aggravated assault towards his mother.
Witnesses told Action 10 News that Mushel has been acting different since returning from an out of state trip. "Please keep them in your prayers, she is going to need prayers, his mom, and his brother," said a neighbor.
Mushel is expected to be transferred to San Patricio County Jail.
