CORPUS CHRISTI -

A local woman who is accused of cheating the federal government and trying to get more cash on her tax returns and her clients was released from jail....for now.

Federal authorities say Cristina Gonzalez falsified tax returns and she was arrested Monday and indicted on 50 counts of tax fraud.

A federal grand jury returned a 50-count indictment against Gonzalez last week on Wednesday, which leads to her arrest.

KZTV has confirmed Gonzalez has posted bond and is not in federal custody.

Gonzalez is charged with 46 counts of willfully aiding and assisting in the preparation of false U.S. Income Tax Returns for others as well as four counts of willfully filing a false income tax return for herself.
