West OSO High School coach vigil

Posted: Updated:

Tonight the West Oso community will come together to mourn a high school coach that passed away last weekend.

Christina Lane, head softball coach, died April 9 from injuries she sustained from a fall.

Students and faculty members remember her as a "wonderful teacher, mentor and coach" who was "admired and loved by all of her students," the school district said in a letter sent out to parents.

The West Oso ISD Board of Trustees say her love of learning and commitment to students touched many throughout the community.

The district has grief counselors available for students who need to talk about the tragic event.

A candlelight vigil will be held in memory of Lane after the West Oso girls home softball game tonight around 8 p.m. at the field.
